Exercise Science

A science-based foundation with four specialized paths

In addition to courses in the primary discipline of kinesiology, you will study chemistry, biology, physics, communications, and mathematics. You will then choose one of four specialization tracks. The integrated exercise science track will prepare you for graduate school in exercise science, whereas the professional track will prepare you for a career in the industry. Finally, the pre-health professions and pre-athletic training tracks will prepare you for graduate school in medicine, physical therapy, athletic training, occupational therapy, or another allied health field.

You will have opportunities to work with faculty on research projects or put your knowledge to test in the field through an internship. Throughout the year, the active, student-run Kinesiology Club invites speakers from a number of health professions to share their expertise and professional perspective.

Careers

Many exercise science majors go on to enter graduate programs in areas such as athletic training, physical or occupational therapy, medicine, dentistry, optometry, and other allied health professions. With the bachelor's degree, you will be prepared for jobs such as coaching, fitness programming, or the marketing of medical, fitness, and sports-related equipment.
