Scholarly Interest

The use of electronic response systems in classrooms in higher education is becoming more widespread. While much of the research has evaluated the benefits of electronic response systems on student performance, as well as the effects on student learning; there is little research on the combined effect of electronic response systems and lecture capture on student performance. My primary research focuses on student engagement particularly as it relates to the use of technology and the use of simulations in an active learning environment.

My secondary research area is the interaction between golf and cognitive decline. Golf is an activity that has been shown to have a positive impact on cognitive decline and the research in this area is in its infancy. My interest is in golf-based intervention in delaying cognitive decline in healthy older adults.
