Becoming a part of the Indiana University community and leading the SPH-B at such a pivotal moment for public health is an honor. Though I officially began my role on March 1, I have spent the past few months meeting with stakeholders and members of the SPH-B community. These energizing and inspiring conversations have reinforced my excitement about the school and where we are headed.
As one of the largest schools of public health in the nation, our work has an incredible and far-reaching impact. Our students, staff, and faculty embody our school's mission through their passion and commitment to improving lives and communities worldwide. Through top-ranked academic programs, groundbreaking research, and innovative student opportunities, we continue to be at the forefront of public health.
I am committed to upholding the reputation of SPH-B, building on the legacy of HPER, and leading us into the next chapter of excellence for our school—guided by the IU’s Strategic Plan 2030.
That begins with strong support for our faculty. Their research, teaching, and service are essential pillar of our school and ensure our students receive outstanding academic experiences and opportunities to reach their professional goals.
Our dedicated staff are also essential in this work, and I am committed to supporting and recognizing the critical role they play in our continued success.
I also look forward to engaging with our alumni, whose incredible accomplishments reflect the value of an SPH-B degree, and fostering meaningful relationships that support innovation, opportunity, and lasting impact.
Finally, we will continue expanding our reach and service throughout Indiana and beyond, underscoring the most important aspect of the work we do—promoting healthier communities and improving lives worldwide.
By prioritizing a culture of respect, support, and collegiality, I am confident that SPH-B will continue to thrive as a place where our community comes together in pursuit of a shared purpose and builds on the strong foundation that defines our school.
