Capone Lab

Welcome to the Capone Lab at Indiana University-Bloomington. We are based in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health in the School of Public Health. Using tools from engineering, epidemiology, and environmental microbiology we investigate the problems affecting low-income individuals and aim to improve public health in the communities where these people live. Our research focuses on the three pillars of public health engineering:

  • Public health surveillance using fecal waste streams;
  • Assessing the fate and transport of fecal contamination in the environment;
  • Predicting public health outcomes using quantitative microbial risk assessment.
