Jaroslaw Harezlak, Ph.D., is a Provost Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington. He holds a Ph.D. in Biostatistics from Harvard University, an M.Sc. in Statistics from the University of British Columbia, and a B.Sc. in Mathematics from Simon Fraser University. Dr. Harezlak completed a research fellowship in Biostatistics at the Harvard School of Public Health. A nationally and internationally recognized scholar, Dr. Harezlak has authored more than 160 peer-reviewed publications and a first-author book with Springer. His research spans regularization methods, functional data analysis, semiparametric regression, and collaborative studies in brain imaging, wearable computing, and network analysis. He has served as principal investigator on multiple NIH grants and presented his work at leading conferences and institutions worldwide. Dr. Harezlak is also a dedicated educator, having designed and taught a wide range of graduate and undergraduate courses, including advanced topics in biostatistical computing and regression methods. His commitment to mentoring is reflected in his guidance of six postdoctoral fellows and ten doctoral students, with several mentees earning national honors. His service includes participation on over 20 NIH and international grant review panels, editorial roles in prominent journals, and leadership across departmental and university committees. Dr. Harezlak was elected Fellow of the American Statistical Association in 2020.
