Scholarly Interest
Dr. Chow’s research focuses on mental health and well-being across the life span, particularly during challenging times and periods of transition. Her research spans multiple developmental periods and diverse populations, with a particular focus on youth and maternal populations, and also includes work in early childhood, midlife, and later adulthood.
Guided by life span and life course perspectives, her work examines (1) changes and trajectories in mental health and well-being over time; (2) psychological, social, and behavioral factors that shape mental health and well-being; (3) the consequences of mental health and well-being for later developmental and health-related outcomes; and (4) interventions and other approaches designed to support mental health, well-being, and healthy development.
Her research program also extends to emerging questions surrounding generative artificial intelligence and youth development. Dr. Chow is Director of the GEN-AI Network, an international collaborative network focused on youth development in the age of generative artificial intelligence (https://www.genaiproject.org/).
