The Anita Aldrich Distinguished Alumni Award is presented annually to a graduate of the School of Public Health-Bloomington or its prior incarnation as Health, Physical Education, and Recreation who has made significant contributions to the body of work in public health science or education, with particular emphasis on career achievements that promote the success of girls and women in physical activity, wellness, healthy lifestyles, fitness, and sport. The award is named in honor of Dr. Anita Aldrich, who served on the faculty of the school from 1964 to 1985 and as acting dean from 1975 to 1976. Dr. Aldrich is widely recognized as an educational pioneer and champion for the cause of women in higher education, health, and athletics.
