Outstanding accomplishments in the field of public health
The John R. Endwright Alumni Service Award is presented annually to a graduate of the School of Public Health-Bloomington and its prior incarnation as Health, Physical Education, and Recreation who has made outstanding service and contributions to Indiana University and the school. The award is named in honor of John Endwright who served on the faculty of the school from 1948 to 1983. He served as dean of the school from 1966 to 1975. The award is a reflection of his commitment to strong ties between the school and its graduates. As an assistant to Dean Willard W. Patty earlier in his career, Endwright suggested that a school's foundation would only be as strong as the relationships established with its alumni.
