Ph.D. in Leisure Behavior

A supportive, individualized program

Within your first year, a member of the graduate faculty will be appointed to chair your doctoral advisory committee, then you will select two or three additional faculty members, including one that represents your minor. This committee will work with you to prepare, then approve, your course of study.

Research skill courses will help you hone your expertise as you explore a specific area of leisure behavior and develop an in-depth understanding of a cognate field. Leisure behavior studies have a philosophical and scientific orientation and emphasize theoretical research. Along the way, you will be encouraged to present your work at conferences and publish in journals within your discipline. This degree culminates in a disseration.

Graduate academic appointments are available, including graduate assistantships and associate instructorships. If you qualify, your position may involve assisting faculty with teaching, research, or other departmental duties.
