To be eligible for the AMP in Nutrition & Dietetics, you must:
- Be an SPH-B dietetics major
- Be in your 3rd year (junior status) and in good academic standing at the time of application. A minimum GPA of 3.2 is preferred.
Prospective students complete a two-part application process.
Key program benefits include:
- Earn both a bachelor’s degree (120 credits) and a master’s degree (30 credits) in five years thanks to four graduate courses that overlap degrees.
- Save money by paying undergraduate tuition for the four overlap courses.
- Receive your bachelor’s degree with your graduating class and your master’s degree one year later.
- Upon completion of the AMP, you need only complete supervised practice to be eligible for the Registered Dietitian Nutrition (RDN) exam .
- This master’s degree includes graduate-level research experience and will support any career path requiring a master’s degree (e.g. career in academia; application to a Ph.D. program) in addition to fulfilling the RDN master’s degree requirement.
Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) may work in clinical settings like hospitals, long-term care facilities, nutrition clinics, or private practice. They may also serve on healthcare teams or work individually with patients to treat and prevent disease.
Community-based RDNs counsel individuals and groups on nutritional practices designed to prevent disease and promote health. Management RDNs often oversee large-scale meal planning and preparation in health care facilities, schools, universities, restaurant chains, or private industry. A growing number of RDNs work in business, journalism, marketing, sports nutrition, and corporate wellness programs.
