Dear SPH-B Faculty, Staff, and Postdoctoral Fellows:
We are pleased to announce that Jessica Staten will join the school on Tuesday, November 1 as Director of Advising.
Since 2017, Jessica has served the IU Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (VPUE) as Director of Advising for Students in Transition and Advisor Professional Development. She holds a master's degree in organizational communication and is pursuing an Ed.D. in higher education and student affairs. When she's not at work, you might find her shopping, gardening, organizing, crafting, or off to explore a new place. She's the mom of two sweet "shorkies" (shih tzu/Yorkshire terrier breed) named Axl and Ozzy.
"I am honored by the opportunity to lead the advising team in SPH-B," Jessica says. "Nationwide, academic advising is a critical yet undervalued resource and our advisors play a crucial role in students’ success, persistence, and retention. I am excited to expand on existing partnerships with faculty and staff to continue to provide exceptional services to our students."
"Jessica brings a richness of knowledge and experience to school," adds Dr. Michael Willett, Interim Executive Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs and Enrollment. "SPH-B continues to experience tremendous growth, particularly in our undergraduate programs which have record enrollment this year. Academic advising is central to the success of our academic mission and Jessica is uniquely qualified to enhance student growth and success!"
Please join us in welcoming Jessica to the SPH-B community!
