Research Interests

My research interests have focused on exercise training and performance in average populations as well as the military population.

I have examined the combined biomechanical and physiological effect of short crank arm lengths on power output, cycling economy, and ventilation while cycling in a triathletes. I am continuing this work through the examination of the effects of short crank arm lengths in the bike-to-run transition of triathlon and trying to predict optimal crank length for individual cyclists/triathletes.

As the advisor to many Sport and Coaching Science Master's students, I will conduct studies with my student based on their individual sporting and performance interests.  These interests include resistance training exercise assessment and adaptation, skilled movement assessment, and training and readiness assessments in the military population.
