Isabel Fangman, MPH is a Research Analyst in the IU-Bloomington School of Public Health, Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Isabel completed her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Converse University and her Master of Public Health in Family and Child Health at the University of Arizona. At the University of Arizona as a Graduate Research Assistant for the NIH-funded Binational Early Asthma and Microbiome Study (BEAMS), she led sample transport efforts between the teams in Tucson, Arizona, and Nogales, Mexico. Isabel has experience working with law enforcement, migrant populations, and youth involved in the criminal-legal system. At IU, she is managing the project, "Incarceration 101: A National Examination of Jail Handbooks", and supporting other projects in the Health & Justice Lab, led by Dr. Ricky Camplain. Her research interests include maternal child health in carceral settings, pregnancy and reproductive health in juvenile-legal settings, and the effect of structural racism on the health of individuals experiencing criminal-legal involvement. In her spare time, Isabel enjoys hiking with her friends, trying out local coffee shops, and walking her two dogs, Teddy and Tucker. She also serves as a volunteer for the Community Justice Board with the Pima County Attorney's Office in Tucson, Arizona.
