Lloyd J. Kolbe is Professor Emeritus of Applied Health Science at the Indiana University School of Public Health—Bloomington. He conducts public health policy research and development to improve child and adolescent health and education in the U.S. and other nations. Dr. Kolbe has held senior positions across private-sector, government, and academic institutions; has worked within the Reagan, GHW Bush, Clinton, and GW Bush Administrations; and has written more than 160 scientific publications about the health and education of young people, school health programs, and public health policies. Among other appointments, he has served as:
- Chief of Evaluation for the U.S. Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion.
- Associate Director of the University of Texas Center for Health Promotion Research.
- Member of the U.S. Public Health Service Senior Biomedical Research Service.
- Chairman of the World Health Organization Expert Committee on School Health.
- Associate Dean for Global and Community Health at Indiana University.
- Member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Children’s Health Protection Advisory Committee.
- Chair of the Board of Scientific Counselors for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Center for Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities and for CDC’s National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion.
