Used Eyeglasses Collection Drive When: All month Where: PH C099 Millions of people around the world lack access to basic eye care and cannot afford prescription glasses, which can severely impact their ability to learn, work, and live independently. By collecting gently used eyeglasses, we can make a meaningful difference in someone’s daily life. This simple act of kindness helps promote health, education, and opportunity. Donate your used eyeglasses to help those in need in the School of Public Health-Bloomington, Suite C099.
Empowering Health Series: Accessing Counseling Resources at IU and Beyond When: Thursday, September 4 at 12 p.m. Where: Microsoft Teams bit.ly/46fFogb Not sure where to start when it comes to mental health care? This session will guide you through IU’s available resources and how to access them, along with tips for finding counseling services in the broader community. Empowering Health Series:How to be a Savvy Consumer When: Thursday, October 2 at 12 p.m. Where: Microsoft Teams bit.ly/45X6rfT Healthy eating does not have to be expensive or time-consuming. Presenters from Healthy IU will discuss healthy food choices, grocery shopping tips, nutrition label reading, and strategies for planning and preparing healthy meals and snacks. In partnership with the Student Government Association and Dr. Susan Simmons, these sessions are designed to provide students with a structured, supportive forum to share their experiences within SPH-B—both challenges and successes—so that SPH-B leadership can better align support services with student needs.

Participants are presented with thought-provoking questions to learn more about where they are—and where they want to go—on their personal wellness journey. This presentation also highlights IU resources that can help along the way.
Empowering Health Series: Get Onboard Active Living (GOAL) When: Friday, February 6 at 12 p.m. Where: Microsoft Teams bit.ly/3IepgBm Get Onboard Active Living (GOAL) is a community initiative led by the IU School of Public Health-Bloomington that focuses on educating and coaching kids and families about nutrition, physical activity, and building healthy lifestyle habits. This session will cover GOAL’s history, current offerings, provide a sample lesson on sugar-sweetened beverages, and involve some light physical activity so attendees can see what it’s like for a family to participate in GOAL programming. We hope to see you there!Go Red for Women Day When: Friday, February 6, 2026; all day Go Red for Women Day is a nationwide initiative to raise awareness about heart disease, especially in women. The American Heart Association and other organizations encourage people to wear red clothing to show support for heart health, as well as to spark conversations about its importance. Learn about the non-hunger factors that influence why, when, and how much we eat, as well as strategies to become more mindful about making healthier food choices.Equal Pay Day When: Wednesday, March 4, 2026; all day Where: Stop by SPH-B Suite C099 to pick up your button to wear! Equal Pay Day is used to raise awareness around—and combat the impact of— pay inequities. Started by the National Committee on Pay Equity (NCPE) in 1996, the day shines a spotlight on the ongoing gender pay gap, and how the pay gap varies significantly among different communities (particularly for women of color).
Empowering Health Series: Put Yourself at the Top of Your To-Do List: Practicing Self-Care When: Monday, April 6 at 12 p.m. Where: Microsoft Teams bit.ly/40DdYgl Caring for yourself is not just about lighting a few candles and taking a nice hot bath. It is about knowing what you need and committing to giving yourself what you need to be happy, healthy, and fully present in your life. This workshop will explore the 6 domains of self-care, their importance, and what is needed to maintain health and balance in these domains. Participants will have an opportunity to create a vision for how they would like to show up in each domain and explore strategies and techniques that will get them started on their self-care journey. You can also view various creative displays representing the cultures of people within the School of Public Health-Bloomington.Denim Day When: Wednesday, April 29; all day Where: Stop by SPH-B Suite C099 to get a punch on your card when you wear denim! What started as a local campaign to bring awareness to victim blaming and destructive myths that surround sexual violence has grown into a movement: Denim Day is the longest-running sexual violence prevention and education campaign in history. To commemorate the movement, community members, elected officials, employees, faculty, wear jeans on this day as a visible means of protest against the misconceptions that surround sexual violence.
