Visiting Scholars

Program overview

The SPH-B Office of International Affairs welcomes international scholars, policy leaders, and professionals from around the world to join our academic community through the SPH International Visiting Scholar Program (SPH-IVSP). International students enrich the SPH-B School by providing a global perspective on our world-class research and teaching agendas, all while advancing their own professional goals as visiting researchers and practitioners at our school.

Eligibility and application process

  • International scholars and practitioners interested in working with the School of Public Health-Bloomington should contact SPH-B faculty that match their research areas. Scholars must secure an SPH-B faculty host who will sponsor their research period at SPH-B prior to being admitted into the SPH-IVSP.
  • Visiting scholar applications must be initiated at least six months before your planned arrival date. The J-1 visa process is time-consuming and lengthy, so it is required to start early.
