Nutrition

Probing the science of nutrition

The field of nutrition is dynamic and encompasses skills in laboratory- and population-based research. Our nutrition program addresses core concepts in nutrient metabolism, epidemiology, research methods, and communication skills.

In this residential program, each student works with a faculty mentor to conduct cutting-edge research, collect data, analyze the data, prepare a research thesis, and present their research at national scientific meetings.

The study of nutrition lays a solid foundation for further study in professional schools or doctoral studies in nutrition. An M.S. in nutrition prepares graduates for a variety of careers in the food industry, community nutrition, medical-related companies, government, public health, or pharmaceutical sales.

Completion of this program DOES NOT meet the requirements for becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.

Our curriculum for the M.S. in nutrition is designed to be rigorous but flexible, with the goal of preparing graduates for a variety of nutrition-related careers.
