Each spring Indiana University hosts the Senior Recognition Awards, publicly celebrating seniors across campus for their scholarship, leadership, and service to IU during their undergraduate years.
“There are countless people who have helped me and inspired me throughout my time at IU, especially the faculty and professors I have had for my SPH courses,” shares Pastore, who is majoring in Epidemiology with a minor in Public Management. “This award means a lot to me and the community that has helped me become who I am.”
Pastore, who also served as the 2022–23 IU Student Body Vice President, says she chose SPH-B because science and public service have been dual passions of hers since high school, and she was immediately drawn to the Epidemiology program.
As for post-graduation plans, Pastore adds, “I want to pursue a career in public service and public health, and in the next few years I am hoping to go to graduate school to get my master’s degree.”
Bose, who hails from Kolkata, India, shares that he opted for a minor in Sport Marketing & Management because it supports his goals for a future career in the sports industry.
“[This minor] has helped supplement the work I do within the IU Athletic Department,” says Bose, who served as Student Athletic Board chair from 2021–23. “After graduation, I will be working for the NCAA in their Creative and Digital department!”
Bose says being recognized by the university is a “humbling experience” and credits his friends, family and mentors for their support and guidance.
“I share this award with everyone who helped me get to this point,” says Bose.
Cowper has majored in Sport Marketing & Management with a minor in coaching and leadership. She says SPH-B was an obvious choice for her; it “aligned with my short-and long-term goals, and would push me to be a better student.”
Cowper adds, “I also knew it would allow me to grow and develop as a young professional in the sports industry. After graduation, I will be pursuing my master’s degree in athletic administration while continuing to work in athletics. Long-term, I hope to one day work in the NFL or within another college athletic department.”
