We are pleased to share that Dr. Maria Parker has been named Interim Assistant Dean for Undergraduate, Graduate, and Postdoctoral Research. A prolific researcher and 2023 recipient of the Indiana University Trustees Teaching Award, Dr. Parker has served SPH-B since 2019. In this new role as interim Assistant Dean, she will:
• Develop and implement incentive opportunities for research trainees to engage with faculty (NTT and TT) in research
• Ensure that all research trainees receive training in the responsible conduct of research (RCR)
• Organize specialized training, workshops, and events for research trainees
• Develop, implement, and evaluate policies for postdoctoral, research associate and research scientist tracks
Dr. Parker will provide support for trainees in SPH-B in the participation, design, and execution of research. She will also support tenure-track and non–tenure-track faculty as they work with SPH-B trainees on innovative research to improve and elevate public health.
"I look forward to supporting all SPH-B research trainees," Dr. Parker says, "and expanding their opportunities at the school, university, and beyond."
Sincerely,
Kelly Ryckman, Ph.D.
Associate Dean for Research
